Members of the Taymouth Castle food and beverage team recently teamed up with schoolchildren from nearby Kenmore Primary to prepare a tasty Burns Supper for locals.

The event brought together parents and families in celebration of Scotland’s Bard while inspiring an interest in the world of hospitality and raising funds for the school.

35 Kenmore pupils joined forces with the chefs and learned about the inner workings of a kitchen. They witnessed the preparation of a traditional Burns’ Supper of haggis, neeps and tatties and had the opportunity to ask all sorts of questions of the chefs, from when they first started cooking to what their favourite meal is!

Senior sous chefs Grete and Inesa, alongside Food and Beverage team members Andrei and Florica, cooked and plated the meal, while P6-7 pupils, helped garnish and serve. Supper was accompanied by piping, Scots poems, singing and a ceilidh.

Kenmore Primary School Headteacher said:

“We had a brilliant Burns night and were so grateful to the Taymouth Castle team who spent time with the children and supplied amazing food. We also loved having Grete and Inesa in the school talking to all the children about their careers, the skills they needed to be successful, and how much they love what they do. Beyond the celebrations, the funds raised during this event will contribute to the school’s activities, essential equipment, and other enriching trips to broaden the experiences of local pupils.
