Eradicating Japanese Knotweed & Protecting Natural Heritage
Published: 15/07/2024
At Taymouth Estate, we are working with Mark Purrmann-Charles at the Scottish Invasive Species Initiative (SISI) to tackle a significant Japanese Knotweed infestation on the river Tay in the Newhall and Lyon confluence area. With its rapid growth this invasive plant threatens local biodiversity and riverbank stability, making its control crucial for preserving our environment.
Funded by the Scottish Government’s Nature Restoration Fund and managed by Nature Scot, from this summer the programme will use herbicide stem injections to manage and reduce the spread of Japanese Knotweed. SISI will also train our onsite team for sustainable, long-term management.
