Mechanic
Taymouth Castle requires an experienced Mechanic with the ability to work with a range of vehicles and machines according to stringent best-practice.

As well as mechanical experience it would be desirable for applicants to have a clear understanding and appreciation of horticultural, agricultural and heavy plant machinery. A 5* service and a flexible approach to work are essential to the position.
Candidates will need to demonstrate:
- Experience in the smooth running of a mechanics workshop and all its facilities delivering a high level of service
- Strong & diplomatic leadership qualities with proven management, exceptional organisational and administrative skills with a good knowledge of IT systems
- Knowledge of all applicable legislation, regulations and best practice, including Health and Safety, to ensure compliance
- Sound working knowledge of basic agronomics and course presentation
- The highest possible standards of integrity and diplomacy
Requirements for the role:
- Full driving licence
- Previous experience in a similar role and/or environment or knowledge of the game of golf and the ability to learn policies, rules and regulations
- High standard of personal presentation
- Excellent communication, influencing and interpersonal skills
- Ability to resolve queries in a practical and positive manner
- Exceptional guest service skills

Head Gardener
The Head Gardener will be responsible for the team across the estate and as such will need to have extensive experience working as a Head Gardener or a senior member of a garden team.
The right candidate is expected to have excellent product knowledge whilst maintaining plant beds and water features in order to flourish well across the season, greenhouse plant propagation, kitchen garden vegetables, herbs and cutting flowers for the wider estate. It is crucial to have a good understanding of the seasonal and horticultural calendar in terms of proposed planting and beds.
Planning and conservation of areas such as forestry and trees. Ensure all lawns and formal garden design are maintained with the greens team and wider woodland team.
- The successful candidate will need to have a keen eye for detail and the ability to work consistently to the highest standards. An interest in and knowledge of the history of estate gardens is important.
- The successful candidate will be an effective communicator and motivator and it goes without saying that the role requires 5* organisational skills.
- In particular, the role will also be responsible, along with the rest of the team, for ensuring that events are delivered, managed and operated to the highest standards in keeping with the exclusive and historic nature of the Estate.
This is a hands-on Head Gardener role that will develop as the estate evolves.
